- Any person or group may apply in writing to the Bulkley Valley Community
Arts Council (BVCAC) for a grant.
- The BVCAC (or designated committee) will take into account the following
when considering a grant application:
- Benefit to the arts community, including degree of activity,
number of members, and whether arts participants (performers)
are from within the community (goal: to encourage the community
to participate in the arts).
- Degree of need, and whether other funding sources are available
(goal: to provide support where most needed).
Whether the applicant is just starting up (goal: to provide
start-up support for new arts groups).
- Whether the applicant is on the wane, with fewer projects/participants
(goal: to provide the greatest support to the most active groups).
- Structure of the applicant/group (goal: to preferentially
support amateur and not-for-profit organizations).
- Does the proposal contribute to the Arts Councils charitable
purposes?
- Past support from the BVCAC (goal: to encourage applicants
toward independence).
- Funds are to be applied only to the project specified in the application.
- The BVCAC has the right to monitor the progress of the project to
which funds were awarded.
- The Council will on occasion grant a request to an organization that
is not a registered society. In this instance the recipient will agree
to the following:
- To use the money in accordance with the BVCACs charitable
objectives.
- Sign a copy of the minutes containing the motion for the
grant. This constitutes a binding agreement between the parties.
- Sign a copy of this policy as proof of reading and understanding
the terms.
- Provide the BVCAC with a final report and/or financial statement
signed by the person responsible for finances.

- If approved, the loan will be interest free.
- The BVCAC (or designated committee) will take into account the following
when considering a loan application:
- Benefit to the arts community, including degree of activity,
number of members, and whether arts participants (performers)
are from within the community (goal: to encourage the community
to participate in the arts).
- Degree of need, and whether other funding sources are available
(goal: to provide support where most needed).

- Provide the BVCAC with a financial report and/or financial statement
signed by the person responsible for finances.
